BOEM has published Notices of Intent (NOI) to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for several proposed wind energy projects recently. Visit the Portal’s Offshore Wind Project page to keep up with these and other updates.

BOEM’s NOI for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Commercial Project initiates a 30-day public comment period that ends on August 2, 2021. During the public comment period, BOEM will be hosting three virtual scoping meetings where you can learn more about the Construction and Operations Plan (COP), ask questions, and provide oral testimony.

Virtual scoping meeting dates:

  • Monday, July 12, 2021 – 5:00 pm EST
  • Wednesday, July 14, 2021 – 1:00 pm EST
  • Tuesday, July 20, 2021 – 5:00 pm EST

The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Commercial Project (CVOW-C) would be an up to 3,000 MW commercial offshore wind facility developed, built, operated, and owned by Dominion Energy. If approved, the CVOW-C Construction and Operations Plan would allow up to 205 turbines that will connect in the area of Hampton Roads in Virginia. The project is approximately 27 statute miles offshore Virginia Beach in Lease Area OCS-A 0483. Additional detail can be found on BOEM’s website at https://www.boem.gov/CVOW-C.
